The production-used costumes of Black Adam and Shazam are set to clash in Prop Store's Summer Entertainment Memorabilia Live Auction.
The long-anticipated showdown between Black Adam and Shazam, a rivalry never fully realized on screen, is now set to unfold at auction. Prop Store's Summer Entertainment Memorabilia Live Auction will feature the production-made costumes of both characters, offering fans a unique opportunity to own a piece of their cinematic history.
Both costumes come from the characters' respective DCEU debuts. Zachary Levi's Shazam suit, from his well-received 2019 film, holds a $25,000-$50,000 estimate and has already reached the low end through absentee bids. Dwayne Johnson's Black Adam costume, from his less-than-spectacular 2022 debut, carries identical estimates and current bids.
Johnson's Black Adam was positioned as a game-changer for the DCEU, but its release coincided with the franchise's impending reboot. The film's $393 million box office significantly missed its reported break-even point of $450-600 million, quickly rendering the character irrelevant in the new DC regime.
Shazam's sequel, Fury of the Gods, followed in 2023, facing a dismal box office despite a strong cast and decent reviews. Its $134 million worldwide total paled in comparison to the original's $367 million, marking it as one of the lowest-grossing DCEU films in a challenging year for superhero movies overall.
The auction will ultimately determine which character's cinematic legacy holds more sway with collectors. The question remains whether Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson's star power can push his Black Adam costume to outbid Zachary Levi's Shazam suit when the hammer falls on August 26.
