Actor Christopher Lambert collapsed at Steel City Comic-Con due to low blood sugar and exhaustion.
Christopher Lambert, celebrated for his roles in Highlander and Mortal Kombat, experienced a medical emergency on the convention floor at Steel City Comic-Con in Pittsburgh. The actor had been engaging with fans, signing autographs and posing for photographs, before collapsing. Ambulances were called to the scene, and Lambert was subsequently taken for treatment.
Representatives for Lambert later confirmed that the actor was "perfectly ok" and recovering in his hotel room. The incident was attributed to a combination of insufficient sleep the night prior and a lack of food throughout the day, resulting in low blood sugar. Fans were reassured that there were no long-term health concerns or underlying issues.
Before the medical incident, the official Steel City Comic-Con account had shared images of Lambert at his photo opportunity and signing booth, highlighting his active participation. Following his departure, the convention notified attendees that his scheduled photo op had been canceled due to personal reasons. It remains uncertain if Lambert will return for his planned Sunday appearances.
Medical emergencies, while not frequent, are not uncommon at large-scale conventions like Comic-Con, affecting attendees of all ages. The crowded, often poorly ventilated environments, combined with the demanding schedules of both fans and celebrities, can lead to dehydration, exhaustion, and insufficient nutrition. For stars like Lambert, booked for multiple engagements, the strain can be particularly acute.
At 69, Lambert remains a beloved figure on the convention circuit, cherished for his contributions to cult classics and genre favorites. Beyond Highlander, his filmography includes memorable turns as Raiden in Mortal Kombat and Methodius in Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance. While his acting pace has shifted, he continues to work, with recent appearances in The Creeps and Mortal Kombat 11.
