Gal Gadot recently disclosed that a third Wonder Woman film was actively in development with her at DC Studios. The actress, who portrayed the Amazonian hero in the previous DCEU iteration, shared that studio executives had engaged in discussions to craft the sequel alongside her. However, these plans ultimately dissolved amidst the broader restructuring of the DC cinematic universe.
Speaking on Josh Horowitz’s Happy Sad Confused podcast, Gadot reflected on the situation, noting, "We’re all adults, and it’s all good." Yet, she also alluded to the complexities of the transition, observing how other key figures were managed. She specifically referenced the "inelegant" handling of both Henry Cavill's Superman return and director Patty Jenkins's involvement, suggesting a pattern in the studio's approach.
Cavill himself had previously detailed his experience in a 2022 Instagram post, explaining that his announced return as Superman was later withdrawn after James Gunn and Peter Safran assumed leadership of DC Studios. This decision was framed as necessary for building a new, unified universe, a move that, while potentially beneficial for the franchise's future, caused considerable disappointment among actors and fans.
The transition to the new DCU, despite its current successes with projects like Superman and Lanterns, was clearly not without its challenges for the talent involved.
