Hayden Panettiere, the acclaimed actress recognized for her roles in Heroes and the Scream franchise, has died at 36.

Actress Hayden Panettiere, a familiar presence across television and film for over three decades, has passed away at the age of 36. Her representatives confirmed the tragic news, though no specific details regarding the circumstances of her death have been released. Panettiere's vibrant career saw her embody a range of memorable characters, leaving a significant legacy in popular culture.

Born on August 21, 1989, Panettiere's journey into performance began remarkably early, appearing in Playskool advertisements before her first birthday. Her childhood was marked by significant roles in daytime television, including a five-year stint on ABC's One Life to Live and a four-year tenure on CBS’ Guiding Light. This early immersion in the craft laid the groundwork for her eventual breakthrough into primetime.

Her defining role arrived in 2006 as Claire Bennet in Tim Kring’s Heroes, where her character became the emotional core of the series, famously inspiring the tagline "Save the cheerleader, save the world." Panettiere appeared in 73 episodes, cementing her status as a genre icon. Later, she garnered two Golden Globe nominations for her portrayal of country singer Juliette Barnes in Nashville, leading over 120 episodes.

Panettiere also made her mark on the big screen, lending her voice to the young ant Dot in A Bug’s Life and appearing in the 2000 film Remember the Titans. A resurgence in her film career came with Scream 4 in 2011, where she redefined the meta movie nerd trope as Kirby Reed. She reprised this beloved role in 2023’s Scream VI, evolving Kirby into a tenacious FBI agent.

Beyond her acting prowess, Panettiere was a talented singer, releasing multiple singles and even earning a Grammy nomination as a child for an A Bug’s Life tie-in book. Earlier this year, she published her memoir, This Is Me: A Reckoning, offering an intimate look at her early career, the complexities of fame, and her personal journey into adulthood.

Hayden Panettiere is survived by her daughter, Kaya Evdokia Klitschko, from her relationship with former heavyweight boxing champion Wladimir Klitschko. Her career, characterized by a remarkable range and an undeniable screen presence, touched millions. She leaves behind a body of work that reflects a profound dedication to her craft and a memorable contribution to cinematic and television storytelling.
