The meme-fuelled phenomenon Kagurabachi is getting its anime, and a world tour to launch it.

Crunchyroll has announced that it will stream the upcoming anime adaptation of Kagurabachi, the hit revenge manga by Takeru Hokazono, when the series premieres in April 2027. The platform will carry the show worldwide with the exception of Japan, Mainland China, North Korea, and South Korea. Alongside the streaming news, the production unveiled a new character trailer and poster, sharpening the picture of how the high-profile adaptation is taking shape. The confirmation gives international fans a clear home for one of the most anticipated Shonen Jump adaptations on the horizon.

The announcement arrived with fresh casting details. CyberAgent revealed that veteran voice actor Katsuyuki Konishi will play Togo Shiba, a role spotlighted in the new character trailer and poster. He joins a cast led by Taihi Kimura as protagonist Chihiro Rokuhira, with Kimura having won the Best New Actor award at the 2025 Seiyu Awards, and Tomokazu Seki voicing Kunishige Rokuhira. The earlier teaser trailer and visual had already introduced Chihiro and the enchanted blade Enten, establishing the central conflict that drives the story.

Togo Shiba is described as a veteran sorcerer with a long-standing relationship with the Rokuhira family. Following the death of Kunishige, he steps in to help Chihiro in his quest for revenge, and although he carries an easygoing manner, his true strength is said to be immeasurable. He was formerly a member of the Kamunabi, the government's sorcerer organization, which adds political texture to his backstory. In the announcement, Konishi described Shiba as someone carefree on the surface but with a solid core and real strength.

The production pedigree is substantial. The anime is being handled by Cypic, a CyberAgent group animation studio whose credits include Umamusume: Cinderella Gray and The Summer Hikaru Died. The creative team is led by director Tetsuya Takeuchi, who served as action animation director on Sword Art Online II, with character designs from Keigo Sasaki, known for his work on Blue Exorcist. The combination signals a clear emphasis on the kinetic swordplay at the heart of the series.

The source material has been a commercial standout since its debut. Currently serialized in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump, the Kagurabachi manga has surpassed a cumulative circulation of 4 million copies. The series first gained outsized attention online for its viral popularity, and the steady print sales have since backed up that early buzz. That momentum helps explain why the property attracted a marquee studio and a worldwide streaming partner so quickly.

The story follows Chihiro Rokuhira, a boy who aspires to become a swordsmith and trains daily under his father Kunishige, a renowned swordsmith. Their peaceful life is brutally shattered by an attack from the mysterious sorcerer organization the Hishaku, which steals the six Enchanted Blades, swords of immense power, along with the gentle life the family once shared. Taking up Enten, the seventh Enchanted Blade left behind by his father, Chihiro sets out on a blood-soaked path of revenge. It is a tightly focused tale of grief, vengeance, and supernatural combat.

Ahead of the broadcast and streaming debut, the production has confirmed a Kagurabachi Anime World Tour of early-episode screenings and panels to build momentum among global fans. The tour kicks off with a World Premiere Screening at Anime Expo in Los Angeles on July 3, followed by Japan Expo in Paris on July 9, AnimagiC in Mannheim on August 1, Otakon in Washington, DC on August 2, and Anime NYC on August 22. Spreading early footage across major conventions in North America and Europe is a clear bid to convert online enthusiasm into a committed worldwide audience before the April 2027 premiere.
