The MCU's X-Men casting rumor mill has turned to its most important chair, Professor X, and it is offering three very different names.
According to unconfirmed reports, Marvel is weighing three actors for Charles Xavier: Bill Skarsgard (IT, Nosferatu), Drew Starkey (Outer Banks, Hellraiser) and Tom Pelphrey (Ozark, Love and Death). None of it is official.
Fan sentiment has coalesced quickly. Pelphrey is the clear favorite in the reactions, with supporters arguing he is among the most underrated actors working today and long overdue for a signature role.
He also has a foot in the door: Pelphrey previously appeared in the MCU-adjacent Iron Fist, giving him prior history with Marvel's screen universe.
The same wave of rumors has tied the reboot's roster to Jean Grey, Cyclops, Emma Frost, Rogue, Storm and Magneto, with Wolverine notably missing from the current casting chatter.
As always, skepticism runs alongside the excitement. Some fans question whether the reports are real at all, and a vocal group is still campaigning for Patrick Wilson to take the professor's chair. Treat it as rumor until Marvel confirms anything.
