The MCU's long-awaited X-Men film has not even confirmed its cast, and the casting debates are already in full swing.
According to a report from the scooper Beyondreporter1, Alien: Romulus and Beef actress Cailee Spaeny is said to be in talks to play Rogue in Marvel Studios' upcoming X-Men film. Nothing has been officially confirmed.
The reaction has been divided. Few fans object to Spaeny joining the franchise, but a sizable group would rather see her cast as Kitty Pryde, arguing the role suits her better.
Others have floated alternatives for Rogue entirely, with some pushing for Inde Navarrette in the part while still calling Spaeny a solid pickup for the film overall.
The chatter fits a larger picture of a deliberately youthful X-Men lineup. Recent rumors have tied Cooper Hoffman to Cyclops and Adam Driver to Magneto, and Kitty Pryde may sit out the first film given she traditionally skews younger than much of the team.
As with everything surrounding the MCU's mutant reboot, expected after Spider-Man: Brand New Day and Avengers: Doomsday, it is best treated as rumor until Marvel says otherwise.
