Cable's X-Force is embroiled in a civil war, battling a rival X-Force to secure Kamala Khan's future as mutant President.

A violent schism has erupted within the ranks of X-Force, pitting two distinct factions against each other in a desperate struggle for the future. At the heart of this burgeoning mutant war is Kamala Khan, the teenage hero Ms. Marvel, whose destiny as the first mutant President of the United States is being fiercely contested by Cable's current iteration of the black-ops team.

The conflict stems from Cable's return from a failed future, his memory fractured, and a singular mission: to save future President Kamala Khan. He assembled a new X-Force, including Archangel, Hellverine, and Boom-Boom, to protect her from an unknown assassin within his own ranks. Cable revealed to Khan that she is destined to prevent a devastating human-mutant war, offering X-Force's protection, which she accepted with a caveat against excessive violence.

Cable's methods have been increasingly questionable, using Kamala Khan as bait while suspecting one of his own team, or even himself, of being her future killer. His actions have drawn the attention of former allies, including Domino, who was mind-wiped by Cable after discovering a sinister force influencing him. This manipulation led Domino to seek help, eventually forming a rival X-Force.

Domino, alongside Shatterstar, Warpath, Rictor, and Pug Smasher, has now formed a counter-team, believing Cable's actions are misguided or controlled. The situation escalated when Cable's X-Force encountered the Mutant Liberation Front. During this mission, a young man named Resonant, whom Kamala had promised to protect, was found dead, with Cable claiming his gun "just went off," further clouding his intentions and escalating the internal conflict.

As Cable is pulled back into the future war he initially sought to prevent, his X-Force is now on a collision course with Domino's newly assembled team. With neither faction fully understanding the true enemy or the ultimate stakes, the mutant world is once again plunged into an internecine battle, with the fate of President Kamala Khan hanging precariously in the balance.
