The new Ghost in the Shell television anime has announced its main cast, with production by Science SARU.
The upcoming television adaptation of Ghost in the Shell has revealed its principal voice cast. The series is being produced by the acclaimed animation studio Science SARU, known for its distinctive visual style and creative storytelling.
Maaya Sakamoto will reprise her role as Major Motoko Kusanagi, a casting choice that brings continuity to the character. Kazuhiro Yamaji steps in as Daisuke Aramaki, while Hiroki Yasumoto will voice Batou. Yuuichi Nakamura has been cast as Togusa.
Further casting includes Kousuke Gotou as Ishikawa and Tooru Nara as Saito. The Operator will be voiced by Marie Oi, and the Fuchikoma units will be voiced by Tomoko Kaneda, adding depth to the supporting ensemble.
The production boasts a notable creative team. Animation duties are handled by Science SARU, with Moko-chan serving as director. Toh EnJoe is responsible for the series composition and writing the scripts.
Character designs are being crafted by Shuuhei Handa, whose previous work includes the beloved series Little Witch Academia. The musical score will be composed by Taisei Iwasaki, Ryo Konishi, and Yuki Kanesaka.
The series will feature music from prominent Japanese artists. The opening theme, "Go Ghost," is performed by the band King Gnu, and the ending theme, "Blue," is by Millenium Parade featuring Saya Gray and Daniel Caesar.
This new television anime is the latest entry in the long-running Ghost in the Shell franchise, which has explored complex themes of identity and technology across various media.
The franchise's most recent installment was Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045 - The Last Human, a compilation film of the second season of the 3DCG anime series, released in Japan in November 2023.
