For much of the last decade, the MCU's Hulk has grown calmer, smarter and more in control. A new teaser for Spider-Man: Brand New Day suggests that streak is about to be shattered.
The footage centers on a mysterious figure who appears to be manipulating Bruce Banner's mind through some kind of device. When Spider-Man tries to reach him as Dr. Banner, the only answer is a growl: a fully savage Hulk, with none of Banner's intellect left to temper him.
From there, the teaser shows the creature unleashed, rampaging on command and steered by the figure pulling the strings. It is a far cry from the composed, wisecracking Smart Hulk of recent films, and much closer to the raw force of nature audiences met in the earliest Avengers movies.
That shift is exactly why fans have responded so strongly. The MCU spent years merging Banner and the Hulk into a single, controlled persona; the promise of a Hulk who is once again dangerous and unpredictable reads, to many, as a long-overdue course correction.
Speculation has already settled on a culprit. A popular fan theory holds that Sadie Sink's rumored Jean Grey is responsible for stripping away Banner's control, though nothing along those lines has been confirmed.
Brand New Day, due in theaters on July 31, 2026, is shaping up as a street-level chapter for Peter Parker, with an expanded supporting cast that reportedly includes the Punisher and Tombstone. A rampaging Hulk would raise those stakes considerably.
Whatever the explanation turns out to be, the teaser's message is clear: the scary Hulk is back.
