Toko Amekawa, the celebrated author of 7th Time Loop, will see her light novel Reincarnated in a Mafia Dating Sim adapted into an anime series.
A new anime adaptation has been officially confirmed for Toko Amekawa's light novel, Reincarnated in a Mafia Dating Sim: A Yakuza Heiress Becomes the Top-Ranked Villain’s Romantic Target. The announcement marks another significant screen venture for the acclaimed author, whose previous work, 7th Time Loop: The Villainess Enjoys a Carefree Life Married to Her Worst Enemy, garnered considerable attention.
Amekawa's 7th Time Loop, a romance fantasy centered on Rishe Weitzer's perpetual time loop and her entanglement with Crown Prince Arnold Hein, proved to be one of 2024's unexpected hits, despite no second season confirmation. This new adaptation, illustrated by Sora Goto, continues Amekawa's exploration of intricate fantasy narratives, with talks of its production circulating since last year before its recent confirmation as a TV anime.
Reincarnated in a Mafia Dating Sim, which debuted as a light novel in 2022, presents an enemies-to-lovers fantasy romance. It follows the granddaughter of a yakuza boss who finds herself reincarnated as Francesca Calvino, a key character in a mafia dating video game. Francesca, wishing to escape the world of organized crime, attempts to sever her engagement to Leonardo Aldini, the formidable head of the Aldini family and the game's primary antagonist.
While the anime adaptation is now confirmed, specific details regarding its release window, the animation studio responsible, or a first look remain under wraps. However, illustrator Sora Goto has generated early excitement by announcing a pop-up event. This event will feature new visuals of the main couple, offering fans a glimpse into the aesthetic and character design ahead of further production announcements.
