Tripura recently held a stakeholder consultation on its draft AVGC-XR policy, aiming to build a robust creative ecosystem.
A stakeholder consultation on the draft Tripura animation, visual effects, gaming, comics and extended reality (AVGC-XR) policy was held in Agartala, bringing together government officials, industry leaders, academic experts, founders, and stakeholders from the AVGC-XR sector. This event was part of the state government’s initiative to develop a comprehensive policy framework, focusing on creativity, innovation, skill development, and digital employment opportunities within Tripura.
Kiran Gitte (IAS), Tripura government information technology secretary, attended the program alongside senior officials. Jeya Ragul Geshan B (IFS), information technology director, presented the state’s vision for a strong AVGC-XR ecosystem. His presentation highlighted talent development, entrepreneurship, industry participation, content creation, and employment. Gitte also noted the significant progress in Tripura’s IT sector, including digital infrastructure and innovation-led governance.
Technical sessions featured expert discussions from Austin Davis of National Institute of Design Gandhinagar and Manvendra Shukul of Indian Institute of Creative Technologies. Saikat Roy, a professor from Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute, shared insights on the evolving media and entertainment landscape and opportunities in the AVGC-XR sector. A special session also explored entrepreneurial journeys, featuring founders like Anurag Khurana of New Gen Gaming and Vishal Parekh of CyberPowerPC India.
These sessions offered practical insights into enterprise creation, business growth, and market opportunities, guiding local talent. The consultation served as a collaborative platform to gather suggestions and refine the draft policy, ensuring it addresses the needs of industry, academia, creators, students, and citizens. Tripura aims to build a robust AVGC-XR ecosystem that leverages its unique strengths and supports emerging industry opportunities.
Under the leadership of Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha and Minister Pranajit Singha Roy, Tripura reaffirms its commitment to fostering innovation-led growth. The proposed policy aims to support skill development, employment, entrepreneurship, and culturally rooted digital content creation. By synergizing with initiatives like the Tripura Startup Policy 2024 and the Tripura Cybersecurity Policy 2025, the state intends to establish itself as a growing hub for the AVGC-XR sector in the northeast region.
