Inde Navarrette and Adam Driver's X-Men castings have ignited significant fan excitement following the D23 announcements.
Marvel Studios officially announced the initial X-Men cast at D23, revealing a new era for mutants within the Cinematic Universe. The panel introduced Sadie Sink as Jean Grey, Kit Connor as Cyclops, Christopher Abbott as Professor X, Samara Weaving as Emma Frost, Inde Navarrette as Rogue, and Maya Boyd as Storm. Adam Driver was also confirmed to portray the villainous Mister Sinister.
Among the newly revealed ensemble, Inde Navarrette's casting as Rogue has garnered the most fervent fan response, securing 42% of votes in a recent poll. Navarrette, who earned critical acclaim for her unhinged performance in this year’s horror sensation Obsession, is poised to bring a fresh intensity to the iconic mutant. Her breakout role in the record-breaking horror film has set high expectations for her portrayal.
Adam Driver's turn as Mister Sinister closely follows in fan excitement, capturing 40% of the vote. Initially rumored for Magneto, Driver's reveal as Nathaniel Milbury, one of Sinister's lesser-known personas, surprised many. While Nathaniel Essex is the more familiar name for the character, Driver's casting promises a compelling antagonist for the burgeoning mutant saga.
Other notable castings include Maya Boyd as Storm, who received 13% of the votes despite being a relative unknown, and Christopher Abbott as Professor X, with 5%. Sadie Sink and Samara Weaving were not included in the fan poll due to prior roles or confirmed status. The first X-Men film, directed by Jake Schreier, is slated for release on May 5, 2028, following Avengers: Secret Wars.
