Mashima is currently engaged with the Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest manga, a direct sequel to his widely popular Fairy Tail series. Additionally, he is simultaneously working on Edens Zero, which began in 2018, and the newer demonic school narrative known as Dead Rock. This commitment to multiple concurrent manga series is a significant undertaking for any artist.
On social media, Mashima confirmed his intentions, stating he is "currently brainstorming ideas for a new work, but my own series has become my biggest rival. I’ll do my best!" This statement highlights the internal creative challenge he faces in developing fresh concepts while maintaining the quality and continuity of his established universes.
Despite the new project, Mashima has not indicated that any of his existing manga series will conclude. However, the future of their anime adaptations remains less certain. Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest's initial anime run concludes in 2025, with no further adaptations confirmed. Similarly, Edens Zero's anime ended in 2023 without a return, and Dead Rock has yet to receive an anime greenlight.
